Microsoft Excel 'Quick Tip'

Adjusting Column Widths And Row Heights

To adjust your column widths, select the columns you want adjusted and just drag the vertical bar between any two columns to the required width.

You can double-click that same vertical bar and the columns will be automatically fit to the widest entry in each column. The same thing goes for adjusting row heights. Select the rows you want adjusted and drag the horizontal bar between any two rows to the desired row height. If you double-click on it Excel will automatically adjust the rows to the best fit.

Sometimes you'll want to adjust the column width based on the widest entry in part of the column. In that case, select the area that you want the column width based on and select Format, Column, and AutoFit Selection.
