EDITOR NOTES
************************************************************
Hi Francis,
Welcome to another addition of my weekly newsletter. I must
apologize to anyone who has not received my newsletter for the
past two weeks or if you've received this one twice. I've had
some technical difficulties that I wasn't even aware of until
last week. My email service was telling me that my newsletters
were being delivered but I got emails from several of my
subscribers who say they haven't heard from me since May 20th.
Well, I'm still here keeping my commitment to help you boost
your skills and productivity in Excel.
Francis, would you please send me a quick email at
francis@TheExcelAddict.com and let me know that you received
this newsletter and/or if you've missed the last couple. If you
have missed any, you can check out the tips on the website at
http://www.TheExcelAddict.com.
I've been getting some great feedback from my readers and that's
what makes this all worthwhile for me. I've spent the past ten
years learning and using all this great information about Excel
and it would be a shame for me not to share it with others.
I'd like to welcome all new subscribes who have joined us in the
past week. We had two new countries, Singapore and the
Philippines, added to the list of destinations "Spreadsheet Tips
From An Excel Addict" is traveling each week. This is proof to
me of the vast reach Microsoft Excel has. Excel is such an
integral part of so many organizations that training users to
use it efficiently and effectively is a very wise strategy.
My goal is for this newsletter to be an important part of that
training. Please help by sharing this newsletter with all
Microsoft Excel users you know.
Thanks and have a great week.
To Your Success!
Francis Hayes (a.k.a. The Excel Addict)

right of the hidden columns and press CTRL+SHIFT+0.
-----------------------------
Hiding Rows (Keyboard method)
-----------------------------
- To hide rows, select a cell(s) in the row(s) you want to hide
and press CTRL+9.

"HOW TO EXCEL" MINI-TUTORIALS
************************************************************
-----------------------------------------------
How To Print Your Report Headings On Every Page
-----------------------------------------------
If your report contains more data than will print on one page
you will probably want your report headings to print on the top
of every page. Here's what you do. Choose File, Page Setup, and
then click on the Sheet tab. Click in the 'Rows to repeat at
top' box and click and drag the cursor through the rows that
contain your headings. You can click OK at this point, or you
can choose the Print Preview button to see if everything looks
OK. On the Print Preview screen, click the Next button to see
that your report headings will also print on page two. If
everything looks OK, click the Close button.
---------------------------------------------
How To Create A Hyperlink To Another Workbook
---------------------------------------------
Everyone who has surfed the Internet knows the benefits of
hyperlinks. Hyperlinks on a web page are the text or graphics
that you can click on to give you instant access to other
information no matter where it is located. Did you know that
Excel allows you to create hyperlinks? You can create hyperlinks
in one workbook that will allow you to instantly open another
workbook without having to remember where it is located.
Here's what you do to create a hyperlink to another Excel
workbook.
1) In Excel 2000, select a cell where you want to place the
hyperlink;
2) Type a description of the workbook you want to link to;
3) Right click on that cell and choose Hyperlink...;
4) Click the File... button and browse to the file location;
5) Select the file you want to link to and click OK;
6) If you want to go to a specific sheet in the workbook, click
on the Bookmark... button, select the sheet name and click OK;
7) You can also click the Screen Tip... button to add a
description to your hyperlink that will pop up when a user holds
the mouse over the hyperlink;
8) Click OK to close the Insert Hyperlink dialog box and save
your workbook;
9) Try out the hyperlink to see how it works.
Hyperlinks are very convenient in Excel for giving users quick
access to related files. I use them to create a Favorites sheet
for all my frequently used workbooks and web pages. I'll tell
you about how to do that in an upcoming newsletter.

SPREADING THE WORD
************************************************************
Currently this newsletter is reaching Excel Addicts in: Canada,
USA, Germany, Norway, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, China, Australia,
South Africa, Jordan, Singapore, and the Philippines.
There are tens of millions of other Microsoft Excel users all
over the world. The vast majority of them have a very limited
knowledge of Excel's capabilities. My goal is to share this
information with everyone I possibly can and help them to
benefit from Excel's lesser know capabilities.
Francis, please help me spread the word about my
newsletter. If you know other Excel users, please tell them
about "Spreadsheet Tips From An Excel Addict". You can forward
this email to them or, if you'd like to qualify for my T-Shirt
Contest, go to my website http://www.theexceladdict.com and use
the Refer A Friend link to let them know. I'm sure they'll
appreciate it.
NO SPAMMING! Please refer only people you know personally and
who use Microsoft Excel and could benefit from this newsletter.
PLEASE NOTE: Before you forward this newsletter to anyone else,
first delete the Unsubscribe Link at the bottom of this
newsletter. You wouldn't want someone to 'accidentally' remove
your name from my mailing list, would you?

BONUS "NON-EXCEL" TIP
************************************************************
-------------
Find it! Fast
-------------
If you're an Internet surfer you probably find yourself on web
pages looking for specific pieces of information. You know it's
there but on long pages of text and graphics it can be
time-consuming to find.
Don't waste your valuable time manually searching the pages.
Here's a great keyboard shortcut that should be part of every
Internet surfers game plan.
Next time you need to find something on a web page just hit
CTRL+F and a "Find" dialog box will pop up that allows you to
type in what you are looking for. Click the Find Next button
and, if it's on that page, you be instantly brought to it.
Like most shortcuts, this one also works is many other Windows
programs. Don't you just love Windows?
