 EDITOR NOTES
************************************************************
Hi ,

This week I've got some simple but very effective time-saving
Excel tips for you. I hope these help make your week a little
easier. Even if some of these tips at first don't seem to apply
to your situation, just give them a try anyway. By actually
practicing them you may see possibilities that you had never
thought of previously.

I'll keep my message short this week. I've got to go prepare a
practice plan for my all-star soccer practice.

Congratulations to Lisa Hobbs of the USA. She is the very first
winner in my monthly T-Shirt Contest (see below).

, let me know what you think about my
newsletter.
There IS a real human being on the other side of cyber-space
writing this newsletter. I'm writing it for you and would like
to give you what you want. You can email me at
francis@TheExcelAddict.com. I'd love to hear from you.

I hope you have a great week.

To Your Success!
Francis Hayes (a.k.a. The Excel Addict)

 QUICK TIPS
************************************************************
--------------------------
Quickly Move Or Copy Cells
--------------------------
Here's a quick and easy way to copy or move cells. Select the
cell(s) you want to copy or move. Position the mouse pointer
over the border of the selected cell(s) and you'll see it change
to an arrow pointer. Now left-click and drag the cells to their
destination using the left mouse button and release the mouse
button to copy the cell(s). Holding down the CRTL key when you
release the mouse button will copy the cell(s). This is really
great time-saving shortcut that I use almost every day.

--------------------------------------
Avoid Excel's Out-Of-Control Scrolling
--------------------------------------
As great as Excel is, it isn't perfect. There are certain
behaviors that Excel has that can be frustrating at times. One
is Excel's tendency to scroll 'out of control' when you try to
select a range of cells that extend beyond the visible area of
your worksheet. Yes, it happens to me too!. Try to select a
range of cells down to row 50 and, all of a sudden, Excel takes
off scrolling like a maniac and the next thing you know, your
down to row 624. Well, here's another method of selecting cells
that will help you avoid all that scrolling. First you click in
the cell that will be the top left corner of your range. Next,
use the scroll bars to scroll until you can see the cell that
will be the bottom-right corner. Hold down your SHIFT key and
click in the bottom-right cell. Now you have your range selected
with minimum scrolling.

 "HOW TO EXCEL" MINI-TUTORIALS
************************************************************
--------------------------------------
Copying Column Widths To Another Sheet
--------------------------------------
Anytime you create a new worksheet and find that you need column
widths the same as those in an existing sheet, there is an easy
way to duplicate them. Select a range of cells from the original
worksheet that include the columns you want to copy and choose
Edit, Copy. Switch to the new sheet and click in any cell in the
column where you want the copied widths to begin. Now click
Edit, Paste Special, choose the Column Widths option and click
OK. Now, isn't that much easier?

--------------------------------------------
How To Make Your Spreadsheet Fit Your Screen
--------------------------------------------
You put a lot of preparation into designing your spreadsheets
exactly the way you want them. But many times you'll find that
your spreadsheet is a little wider than will fit your screen.
Maybe you have many spreadsheets like this now. The problem here
is that not only do you have to scroll up and down to navigate
your spreadsheet but you also have to scroll left and right. If
the data on your sheet is slightly wider than will display on
your screen you can easily make it fit.

Here’s how.
1) Select a range of cells (can be only one row high) from the
left-most cell to the right-most cell.
2) From the View menu select Zoom, click Fit Selection, and then
click OK.

 SPREADING THE WORD
************************************************************
Currently this newsletter is reaching Excel Addicts in: Canada,
USA, Germany, Norway, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, China, Australia,
South Africa, Jordan, Singapore, and the Philippines.

There are tens of millions of other Microsoft Excel users all
over the world. The vast majority of them have a very limited
knowledge of Excel's capabilities. My goal is to share this
information with everyone I possibly can and help them to
benefit from Excel's lesser know capabilities.

, please help me spread the word about my
newsletter. If you know other Excel users, please tell them
about "Spreadsheet Tips From An Excel Addict". You can forward
this email to them or, if you'd like to qualify for my T-Shirt
Contest, go to my website http://www.theexceladdict.com and use
the Refer A Friend link to let them know. I'm sure they'll
appreciate it.

NO SPAMMING! Please refer only people you know personally and
who use Microsoft Excel and could benefit from this newsletter.

PLEASE NOTE: Before you forward this newsletter to anyone else,
first delete the Unsubscribe Link at the bottom of this
newsletter. You wouldn't want someone to 'accidentally' remove
your name from my mailing list, would you?

 BONUS "NON-EXCEL" TIP
************************************************************
------------------------------
Can't Find That Great Website?
------------------------------
Have you ever visited website and then a few days later wanted
to go back but couldn't remember it because you forgot to save
it in your Favorites? Well, you can still find it. Internet
Explorer keeps track of all the sites you have recently visited
in it's History folder.

To see this list of sites, click the History button (looks like
a sundial) on the Internet Explorer toolbar. This will open a
small window on left side of your browser. You'll see a list of
recently visited sites. On the top of that History window, click
on the View option and select By Site. Browse through the sites
and click on the one you want to visit. If you can't remember
the name but you know when you visited the site, click on View,
By Date. When you're finished with this History option, simply
click the History button again to toggle the History window off.
