EDITOR NOTES
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hi ,
I'm sure that, like me, you also get a bunch of junk emails
every day. It has become a major problem on the Internet lately
so much so that it is even having a negative impact on
legitimate emails like this newsletter that you have requested
from me. Most of the Internet Service Providers have had to
resort to filters to cope with the onslaught of junk mail.
Unfortunately these filters are less than perfect and often
result in blocking legitimate email.
The reason I'm telling you this is that I have heard from some
of my subscribers who say they haven't been receiving my
newsletters regularly. I just want to let you know that I do
send out this newsletter every week as I promised you when you
subscribed. I am keeping myself informed on how to best avoid
having my newsletter caught in these filters.
If you have been having any problems receiving my newsletters,
please feel free to let me know at francis@TheExcelAddict.com.
Even if you've been receiving it regularly, I'd love to hear
from you. My goal is to help 'Average Spreadsheet Users Become
Local Spreadsheet Experts'. Excel has helped me so much over the
years and I know the majority of Excel users haven't been
exposed to most of Excel's amazing capabilities. That's why I
want to share my knowledge of Excel with you.
I hope this weeks tips will take you a few steps closer to
becoming a "local spreadsheet expert".
To Your Success!

EXCEL "QUICK TIPS"
----------------------------------------------------------------
Fastest Bold
------------
The fastest way to apply a bold font to selected cells is by
pressing CTRL+B. As with many other Excel shortcuts, this one
can be used in many other Windows programs.
Naming Your Sheets
------------------
You can change the default name (i.e. Sheet1, Sheet2, etc...) on
your sheet tabs by double-clicking on the tab and entering the
new name or right-clicking on the sheet tab and choosing Rename.
More meaningful sheet names make your workbooks much easier to
work with.

MY NEW "BIGGEST BANG FOR THE BUCK" CONTEST
----------------------------------------------------------------
Over the next two months I want you to submit to me a
time-consuming task that you do in Excel that you would like to
find a solution for.
I will personally review all entries and select the one that I
think could get "the biggest bang for the buck" with a solution
from The Excel Addict. The best part about this is, it won't
cost you a BUCK and you'll get the BANG absolutely FREE. One
lucky person will get a custom solution to their Excel problem
just for being a loyal reader of my newsletter. Submit your
suggestions to bigbang@TheExcelAddict.com
----------------------------------------------------------------
T-SHIRT CONTEST
----------------------------------------------------------------
Every month I am giving away a really cool t-shirt from
TheExcelAddict.com. You can sneak a peak at my website
http://www.TheExcelAddict.com
If you subscribed to this newsletter prior to this current
month, you can still get your name in for the draw each month by
helping me share this newsletter.
All you have to do each month is send an email to your friends
and associates, with a BCC to me, recommending my website and
newsletter. For each person that you refer, your name will go
into the draw. The more friends you refer, the more chances you
have of winning a t-shirt.
*** Each monthly winner will be notified by email and will have
10 days to reply with a shipping address. If I don't receive a
reply within 10 days, another name will be drawn.

How To Move Formulas Without Changing Their Relative References
---------------------------------------------------------------
Any time you need to copy or move formulas from one area of your
worksheet to another without changing their relative references,
here's a neat little trick that will make the task much easier.
1) Select the range of cells containing the formulas
2) From the Edit menu select Replace (or use the keyboard
shortcut CTRL+H)
3) In Find box enter the = sign
4) In the Replace box enter the # symbol
5) Click Replace All
6) Select Edit, Cut, then move to the destination cell and
select Edit, Paste.
7) Now repeat steps 2 to 5 on the destination cells but switch
the = and # symbols.
How To Easily Move A Range Of Cells From One Sheet To Another
-------------------------------------------------------------
1) Select the range of cells you want to move
2) Hold down the ALT key while dragging the selected cells down
to the destination sheet tab. That sheet will pop open.
3) Release the ALT key
4) Move the selected cells to the range where you want to paste
them and release the mouse button.
(Note that if you want to copy the cells instead of move them,
just hold down the CTRL key while releasing the mouse button in
step 4.
