EDITOR NOTES
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hi ,

First of all I would like to welcome all new subscribers. This
past month TheExcelAddict has expanded to include readers from
India, Thailand, and The Netherlands. Welcome aboard.

If you've been getting my newsletters for a while you've
probably heard me talk about my Girls Under-12 All-Star soccer
team. We have been working very hard over the past four months
practicing and preparing for our big Mega Tournament. Well
things didn't go exactly as planned, however we did finish third
in the 10-team tournament this past weekend. We had high hopes
of winning the championship, but it was not to be this year. I
am very proud of the valiant effort the girls gave. We had lots
of fun, met lots of new friends and hopefully learned a lesson
or two from the experience.

Over the past several months I have put a lot of time and effort
into my soccer team and now that 'the big event' is over, I am
committed to focusing more on my newsletter and website. As I've
stated before, my goal for this newsletter and my website is to
share my Excel knowledge and experience with everyone I possibly
can so that they can benefit, as I have, from Excel's amazing
capabilities that so few people are aware of.

, I am hoping that you have experienced some
level
of success in applying the tips and tricks I've been sharing
with you and ask that you please tell every Excel user you know
about my newsletter and website. I know they will appreciate you
for it.

Number crunching on spreadsheets can be very tedious and boring
if you don't know the tricks and shortcuts. But when you do know
them, that's when spreadsheets can be very enjoyable to work
with. Do your Excel friends a favour and share this newsletter
with them. I'm sure that they too would benefit from this weeks
tips and shortcuts as I'm sure you will.

To Your Success!

EXCEL "QUICK TIPS"

Another quick way to instantly jump to a specific cell is to

box is the small white area immediately above column A.

Quickly Identify Cells Referred To By A Formula
------------------------------------------------
Need to see which cells are referred to by a formula? Just
select the cell containing the formula press CTRL + [ (i.e. left
square bracket).

----------------------------------------------------------------
MY NEW "BIGGEST BANG FOR THE BUCK" CONTEST

Over the next two months I want you to submit to me a
time-consuming task that you do in Excel month after month that
you would like to find faster and more effective solution for.

I will personally review all entries and select the one that I
think could get "the biggest bang for the buck" with a solution
from The Excel Addict. The best part about this is, it won't
cost you a BUCK and you'll get the BANG absolutely FREE. One
lucky person will get a custom solution to their Excel problem

----------------------------------------------------------------
"HOW TO EXCEL" MINI-TUTORIALS
----------------------------------------------------------------
How To Paste A Hyperlink
------------------------
In a previous tip I showed you how to create hyperlinks using
Insert, Hyperlinks. Well, like so many other things in Windows,
there is yet another way to create hyperlinks. Here's how you
can paste a hyperlink.

1) Select the destination cell you want the hyperlink to link to
2) From the Edit menu choose Copy
2) Next, select the cell where you want to place the Hyperlink
3) Now, hold down the Shift key, select Edit, Paste Hyperlink

How To Squeeze Your Worksheet To Print One Page Wide
----------------------------------------------------
If you have worksheets that you need to print one page wide but
they are too wide there is a much easier solution than taking
drastic actions like reducing your font size or making your
columns too narrow. Here's what to do:

1) From the File menu click Page Setup
2) Click the Page tab
3) For Scaling click the Fit To option
4) Enter the scaling to be 1 page(s) wide and blank the pages
   tall box.

You have just set Excel to print your worksheet so that it
prints only one page wide but prints however many pages tall
that is necessary.

South Korea, India, Thailand, and The Netherlands.

There are tens of millions of other Microsoft Excel users all

information with everyone I possibly can and help them to
benefit from Excel's lesser know capabilities.

, please help me spread the word about my
newsletter. If you know other Excel users, please tell them
about "Spreadsheet Tips From An Excel Addict". I'm sure they'll
appreciate it. Please refer only people you know personally,
who use Microsoft Excel and could benefit from this newsletter.

----------------------------------------------------------------
BONUS "NON-EXCEL" TIP
----------------------------------------------------------------
Clearing Your Recent Documents List
-----------------------------------
As you know, Windows makes it easy to access files you have
recently used by listing them in Start, Documents menu. However,
there may be times when you don't want certain documents listed
here for others to see. You can either clear the whole list or
clear individual items in the list.

To clear all shortcuts from the Documents list:
1) Click the Start menu
2) Click Settings
3) Click Taskbar
4) Click the Start Menu Programs tab
5) Click the Clear button.

To clear individual items from the Documents list:
1) Click Start, Documents
2) Right-click on the item in the list that you want removed and

   click Delete.

You could also go to the Windows\Recent folder in Windows
Explorer and delete the shortcuts.

(Note that these items are shortcuts and deleting them doesn't
affect the original file)
