That one about conditional formatting to remove duplicate entries was really good value, thanks. It was great to see it work on the practice spreadsheet, and as a bonus, I had never twigged to the fact that using Tab changes the active cell without de-selecting what you have selected, while just clicking on B2 removed the selection as well. Hence the first attempts had unexpected effects. A really high-value tip, in unexpected ways. Thanks for your continuing newsletters, -- Chris (IT Support Officer)

I work with excel spreadsheets all day long that come from many different vendors, and I experience almost every day different challenges. From time to time I get a sheet with those spaces that I was never able to get rid of and it caused me a lot of problems because the cat numbers never matched with my database. Just another little thing to make my life easier. All I can say to you is thank you! I really appreciate your great work. Regards, Joe

Hi Francis Thanks. Your first option works great. I remember seeing it in a previous newsletter but was unsure of whether I could apply it to 3,000 records. How stupid - this is Excel after all. Hi Francis, This is your French Canadian 'mate living "Down Under" in Sydney... Still enjoying your regular newsletter, and wonder where you find time to do this on top of your "day job" & soccer coaching and taking care of your kids. I enjoy your human touch in the newsletter, and I believe that is personifies the "canadian personality trait" that does not come through in other newsletters received. I enjoyed your challenge, and tough I had never needed to use it, I might use it in the future. I too am amazed by the endless amount of discoveries to be made in Excel. I just tried to press the SHIFT key while clicking on "Find" and it did the trick. Have a great summer. It is only a bit chilly in the mornings in Sydney, with max today of 18C Cheers! -- André

Fabulous! Haven't provided comments previously, but the double-click on the fill handle, along with the practice spreadsheet, were a treat for me this week. I make use of the fill handle frequently, and this function will certainly make more efficient use of my time. Thanks for your ingenuity and enthusiasm in distributing your know-how. Enjoy your fall weekend! -- Sue (USA)
Hi! My english is not too good, I hope you´ll understand what I´m writing. I´m very glad to be receiving your news about Excel and other things. They have been very usefull for me. Is very difficult to find a person who wants to share their knowledge with others. Sometimes I feel sorry to see people that works with Excel but doesn´t know all the goodness that the program has. When I can help I do so, sometimes they accept the suggestions other time they refuse it. In the meanwhile, I´ll keep on learning as much as I can with your help. -- Janet (Nicaragua)
