Hi fellow Excel Addict,

Does it seem to you that Microsoft is churning out new versions of everything so fast that most users seem to be always a couple of versions behind. When you finally make a decison to upgrade, another version comes out and you're behind again.

I like to keep up to date on with Excel but so far I haven't made the jump to Excel 2013, mainly because the company I work for doesn't use it.

The reason for this email is that, in my last newsletter, I told you about a new PowerPivot course that Chandoo is offering starting August 1st. I have since received several emails informing me that Power Pivot is not available in most versions of Office 2013. I have only recently been testing out Power Pivot (using Excel 2010) and was getting very excited at the possibilities. Microsoft gave away PowerPivot as a free add-in download for anyone with Excel 2010. Excel users were becoming more excited than they have been in years. But Microsoft have now gone and pulled out the PowerPivot rug out from many Excel 2013 users.

If you too were getting excited about PowerPivot, you may want to get up to speed on the licensing debacle that Microsoft has created around Excel 2013 and Office 365. Before you invest and time and/or money in PowerPivot you should determine if this situation will affect you.
